The great advantage of such an ammunition is that the solid angle forward cone in which the payload spreads (aperture angle of 10 to 20° - distance-dependent) is much more focused than that for a proximity fuze ammunition (aperture angle greater than 270°). I.e. the solid angle of an ABM AHEAD 35mm ammunition is about 100 times smaller than for conventional proximity-fuzed ammunition, greatly increasing the single shot kill probability.
